Letter to my Students!

Below is a of my letter to the students at my first student teaching placement in America. I've decided to have them choose a name for our little travel buddy!

Dear Class,

Hi! By the time you read this I will already be in Sweden. I am so excited to experience this new culture and share what I learn with you all. While I am overseas I will also get to visit Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Chamonix in the French Alps. The students I will teach in Sweden are fourth and fifth graders at the Folkungaskolan school (don’t worry, I don’t know how to pronounce it yet either).
As many of you know, I will not be traveling alone. My fiancé, Max, is coming with me! We are also bringing our new friend along! He is a big soft elephant! I told him all about your class and he is very excited to write letters to you with pictures of himself in all the cool places we visit. His mission is to teach you something new about each place we visit!
We have been working very hard to put first things first and make sure we have everything we need before we begin our adventure. As you can see he has his sunglasses, his American flag, and his purple travel backpack ready to go! But before we can get him registered at the US embassy, he needs a name! I think you all are such great leaders; you would be the perfect people to pick a name for our new friend! Some of you have already suggested great names, but now it’s time to pick the best one. Here is a list of the names you suggested. If you have an idea that isn’t on this list, tell Mrs. Decker to add it. Then you can vote to choose his new name! Mrs. Decker will send me the name you pick.

Here are the names you suggested:
 -Leader
 -Peanut
 -M&M

If you have more suggestions, add them to the list, then vote and Mrs. Decker will send me the name your class chose!

Thanks for all your help! My elephant and I are very excited to share this great adventure with you!
Have a great week and stay PROACTIVE!

Sincerely,
Ms. Rogers
